Effect of prestress on the strength of metal shells reinforced with a glass-reinforced plastic

Abstract

The effect of prestress on the strength of metal glass-reinforced plastic shells has been investigated. A method of calculation is described, and experimental results showing the role of the tensile stress in the reinforcement of reinforced metal shells are presented.
