Distribution of substituents in sulfoisoamyl ether of cellulose

  • 20 Accesses

  1. 1.

The distribution of the substituents in the sulfoisoamyl ether of cellulose, with a degree of substitution of 0.68, was determined.

  2. 2.

In their reactivity, the hydroxyl groups of cellulose when alkylated with isoamylsultone fall into the order: C2>C6>C3, the same as when alkylation is with propanesultone, but in contrast to the latter, the difference in the reactivity of C2 and C6 decreases.
