The natuee and properties of the primary products of low-temperature γradiolysis of alkali crystal hydrates

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    In the low temperatureγradlolysis of crystal hydrates of alkalis, O ion radicals and color centers similar in their properties to the F-centers in alkali halide crystals, but differing from captured electrons in glassy solutions of alkalis, arise.

  2. 2.

    The optical spectra and ESR spectra of the color centers, as well as the ESR spectra of O ion radicals inγ-irradiated crystal hydrates, were investigated. The yields of these particles were measured.

  3. 3.

    The kinetics of the accumulation of O and color centers duringγ radiolysis was studied. In the case of color centers, a substantial influence of the temperature and repeatedγ irradiation was detected.
