Alkali metal perchloratoborates

Two methods have been developed for the production of perchloratoborates: the action of boron chloride on a solution of the metal chlorate in perchloric acid and the action of perchloric acid on metal chloridoborates. The use of a minimum excess of perchloric acid, containing 20–30% Cl2O7, ensures high purity of the products obtained.
Cesium, rubidium, and potassium perchloratoborates were isolated and investigated. The IR spectra of the perchloratoborates indicate a closeness of the structure of the B-OClO3 group to the structure of ROClO3 in the molecules of HOClO3, ClO3OClO3, ClOClO3, and BrOClO3.
