Summary

  1. 1.

By the condensation of 1,1,1-trifluoro- and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoro-2-nitroethanes with formaldehyde in presence of alkalies fluorine-containing nitro alcohols and diols were obtained.

  2. 2.

In an acid alcoholic medium under the conditions of the Mannich reaction 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-nitroethane forms the corresponding 3-alkoxy-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-nitropropanes.
