Summary

  1. 1.

    It was shown that the saponin fraction from the roots and rhizomes ofPatrinia intermedia (Roem. et Schult.) (Valerianaceae family) contains at least seven triterpenoid saponins, which are called patrinosides.

     
  2. 2.

    The main glycoside-patrinoside D- was isolated in the pure state and shown to be an O-acyl glycoside of oleanolic acid containing 4 glucose, 2 xylose, and 1 rhamnose residues.
