A description is given of a synthesis of acetylenic ketio acids of the type RC≡CCO-[X]-COOH. based on the condensation of lithium acetylides with cyclic dicarboxylic anhydrides.

By this method acetylenic keto esters having low toxicity and considerable antifungalactivity were prepared.
