Effects of annealing on the electrical strength of alkali halides

Abstract
Results are given for NaCl, KCl, KBr, and KI crystals grown from melts, and also for rocksalt; they show that high-temperature annealing reduces the electrical strength Es and also reduces the spread in Es. The results are explained in terms of defects.
