Abstract
A scheme for synthesizing 8-dialkylaminomethyl derivatives of theobromine from 3-methyl-4-amino-5-methylaminouracil without the intermediacy of 8-methyltheobromine has been developed. One variant of this scheme, in which 8-bromomethyltheobromine is obtained, may be used for the synthesis of other 8-substituted theobromine derivatives as well.
