Conclusions

We have carried out a detailed analysis of the election diffraction data for the uranium tetrafloride molecule based on the calculated amplitudes of the scattering of fast elections by the uranium atom, and have treated the vibrational amplitudes obtained together with published frequencies. We conclude that the experimental data are consistent with the model of a regular tetrahedron, or of a slightly distorted tetrahedron, in which the internucluclear distances deviate from equivalence by not more than 0.15 Å
