A single recessive gene for stem sweetness in sorghum

Summary

The inheritance of stemsweetness in sorghum has followed a qualitative pattern, non-sweet being monogenically dominant over sweet. Hence sweetness was controlled by a single recessive gene. A maternal effect was not involved for the expression of sweetness.
