Summary
- 1.
It has been shown that the solid point of West Siberian crudes does not depend on the cooling rate. It does increase with increasing contents of wax, water, or chlorides in the crude, and it decreases when either natural or synthetic surfactants are added. Further, the solid point is related in a complex manner to the thermal history, i.e., the temperature of preliminary heat treatment of the crude.
- 2.
It has been established that the optimal temperature of heat treatment for the crude oils in this study, for the greatest depression of solid point, is between 60 and 70°C; the solid-point depression is retained for several days.
