The systematic position of monotremes reconsidered (Mammalia)

By reinterpretation of the tooth formula ofOrnithorhynchus as dp/P M1–4 a synapomorphy with Marsupials has been discovered. Monotremes and Marsupials are sister groups, together derived from Theria of the Middle-Crelaceous.
