Conclusions

  1. 1.

    In PUF blocks with vertical walls and circular cross section (H/D=0.4–8) obtained by free foaming, a regular change in the mechanical properties in the bulk of the material is observed, which is not related to a change in density,

  2. 2.

    The character of the change in S z along the height at H/D≥2 is independent of H/D. Thus, the values of the maximal and minimal strengths in the block for the PUF studied differ by a factor of 3.5–4.

  3. 3.

    The distribution of γ and S z along the height of the block does not change qualitatively with change in the diameter and the mean density of the block in the range studied. The data obtained are thus suitable for a preliminary evaluation of the properties of the PUF in cylindrical blocks prepared for various purposes.

  4. 4.

    For carrying out physicomechanical tests it is expedient to prepare PUF blocks in forms with vertical walls.
