Enzymatic transformation of dl-estradiol into d-estrone and l-estradiol

An enzymatic preparation of human placenta effectively transforms dl-estradiol into a mixture of d-estrone and l-estradiol, which can easily be separated by chromatography into the individual components. Allyl alcohol is a stabilizer for 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.
