Convergence properties of the intermolecular force series (1/R-expansion)

Abstract

It is proven that the total energy of interacting molecular systems A and B at large intermolecular distancesR can be expanded in a semi-convergent series in powers of 1/R. It is further proven that “exchange forces” vanish faster than any power of 1/R.
