Summary

The decomposition of sulphotellurate leading to deposition of black elemental tellurium has been utilized for the following analytical tests: detection of elemental tellurium and Te-containing semi-conductors, detection of polysulphide in alkali sulphide, detection of As2S3 and As2O3, differentiation of Sb2O3 and Sb2O5, differentiation of tin(II) and tin(IV) hydroxides.
