Abstract
A chemical method based upon chitin analysis is suitable for estimating growth of Colletotrichum lagenarium; it has been calibrated against total dry weight determination, in synthetic media. This method allows us to compare the growth of virulent and avirulent strains of this pathogenic fungus in culture on a medium containing cell walls, isolated from host tissues, as carbon and nitrogen sources.
