Transport media—one of the weakest links in the chain organism isolation
Summary
Colonial growth and succeptibility testing, the basis of all therapy with antibiotics, is worthless without an intact chain, from collection to isolation, of clinical specimens. Due to variations in temperature, transport-time and transport-media, culture results obtained are variable as well as subjected to much criticism. Demanding organisms are frequently overlooked.
