Die Funktion der Mittelohrmuskeln beim Menschen

On the function of middle ear muscles in man

Summary

The influence of cranial nerves on the occurrence of the middle ear reflexes is not yet completely clarified. The biphasic curve of the stapedial reflex p. e. is often interpreted by effect of participation of r. muscularis n. trigemini. We investigated patients after neurosurgical treatment with isolated or combined loss of the cranial nerves trigeminus, facialis, and acousticus — and conserved middle ear structures. The recorded tympanometric curves are discussed.
