Escape synthesis of β-galactosidase in strains of Escherichia coli lysogenic for λc I857 h80t 68 dlac

Summary

Heat induction of the prophage λc I857 h80t 68 dlac results in a 40-fold increase of β-galactosidase. This escape from repressor control is inhibited in an otherwise isogenic strain which overproduces lac repressor.
