Abstract
High-speed cinematography and optical interferometry make it possible to visualize the physical occurrences with fluid flow and heat transfer which are not accessible to the naked eye due to its incapacity to follow fast movements and to comprehend phase shifts of a light wave due to temperature changes in a transparent fluid. Examples of velocity- and temperature fields with free and forced convection in single and two-phase flow are presented and physically analyzed.
