The chromosomes of Arixenia esau Jordan (Dermaptera)

The parasitic insect Arixenia esau, a highly aberrant member of the order Dermaptera, shows n♂ = 30 and has an XY sex determining mechanism. This karyotype is compared with those of the earwigs (Forficulina) and of Hemimerus bouvieri, a member of another aberrant parasitic suborder of the Dermaptera.
