Zusammenfassung
Aus den Blinddärmen von Brandente (Tadorna tadorna), Samtente (Melanitta fusca) und Eiderente (Somateria mollissima) und dem Enddarm der Trauerente (M. nigra) wird ein neuer Gymnophallide beschrieben, der auch experimentell durch Verfütterung der die zugehörigen Metacercarien enthaltenden Nordischen Plattmuschel (Macoma baltica) und Herzmuschel (Cardium edule) an Silbermöwe (Larus argentatus) und Eiderente erhalten wurde.
Gründe für die Einordnung in die Gattung Gymnophallus (anstelle in die Gattung Meiogymnophallus) werden gegeben und die neue Art mit anderen darmbewohnenden Mitgliedern der Familie verglichen.

Summary
A new gymnophallid species is described from the caeca of Tadorna tadorna, Melanitta fusca and Somateria mollissima and from the colon of Melanitta nigra. It was also recovered from 1 Herring Gull and 4 Eider Duck experimentally infected with the metacercariae which occur between mantle and shell of Macoma baltica and Cardium edule. G. gibberosus n.sp. is distinguished from G. somateriae (Levinsen, 1881) inhabiting the same organ in having a smaller sucker ratio, caeca terminating at anterior border of ventral sucker, acetabulum lying nearer to the middle of the body, and uterus filling the entire fore body. G. somateriae as described by Odhner (1905)—most probably a different species from that of Levinsen—has a higher sucker ratio and the uterus fills the hind body. From the bigger G. bursicola which has a similar excretory bladder and the same distribution of the uterus G. gibberosus can be easily distinguished as the former is of a reddish colour when alive, starts with the egg production only when having arrived at the Bursa fabricii, has brown eggs (yellow in G. gibberosus) and follicular irregular vitelline follicles.
