Nonlinear current-voltage characteristics of normal-superconducting boundaries

The voltage drop at a normal-superconducting boundary is considered in the case when the current flowing across the boundary is of the order of the critical current of the superconductor. The finite supercurrent decreases the distance the electric field penetrates into the superconductor, and leads to a nonlinear current-voltage characteristic. Explicit calculations are carried out for a dirty superconductor close to the transition temperature.
