Monitoring the Condition of CNC Machine Tools

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

Maintenance of CNC machine tools in an operative condition is considered. Attention focuses on the appropriate monitoring and control systems. The structure of the required control system and the corresponding control functions are presented. The starting point is to mount a module containing sensors of various types, including vibroacoustic sensors, on each machine tool. The machine tools’ proximity to a critical state is assessed by means of neural networks, fuzzy inference, and expert evaluation of the risk factors.
