Synthesis of contact-optimal spiral bevel gears

Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The influence of gear synthesis parameters used in Expert software on the shape and size of the contact pattern and on the contact pressure is analyzed. An algorithm is proposed for identifying the shape of the lateral tooth surfaces that minimizes the contact pressure in a specified transmission. The constraints in optimization are the specified distances of the contact spot from the edges of the teeth. An example of the algorithm’s application is presented.
