Abstract
The studies were aimed at determining the CO2 production from plowed soils depending on air temperature, precipitation, crop cultivation, and the application of mineral fertilizers. The work was performed in 2019–2022 in the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia. The object of the study was represented by heavy loamy medium-humus medium-thick meadow-chernozemic soil. Soils were sampled at three sites: on a fallow (without fertilizers) and under spring soft wheat after fallow with the application of mineral fertilizers at the rate of N18P42 per 1 ha of crop rotation area and without them. Emission of CO2 was determined in the operational monitoring mode once every 7 days by the absorption method. Losses of carbon in the form of CO2 were larger for soils under spring wheat during the growing seasons as compared to the fallow field. This is explained by a significant contribution of the respiration of the plant root system to the total CO2 sink during the period of intensive growth (June 18–July 19). A decrease in moisture availability caused a decrease in the CO2 emission component related to the inhibition of microbiological processes in soil. The use of mineral fertilizers in the agrocenosis increased sequestration and deposition of organic carbon. There was an increase in mortmass reserves by 11% and of humus content by 0.12% in fertilized soil under spring soft wheat in comparison with the variant without fertilizers. This variant was also characterized by a decrease in mineralization processes by 10% and by an increase in immobilization: the mineralization coefficient was 0.69 and the immobilization coefficient was 1.44.
