Abstract

A method of plotting the deformation curve for the material of thin-film coatings using the parameters of the indentation diagram is considered. This method is based on solving the inverse problem of mechanics of continua. An algorithm is used for this purpose that combines a full-scale experiment and a numerical calculation. Data on the deformation curves for multicomponent nitride ((AlSi,Ti) and (AlSi,Cr)N) and carbide ((AlSi,Ti)–C:H, and (AlSi,Cr)–C:H) coatings are obtained and a comparative analysis of the properties of these coatings is carried out. Results of the numerical calculation of stresses that act during indentation are presented.
