Laser induced modification of the properties of CuO single crystals coated by metal film

Journal of Contemporary Physics (Armenian Academy of Sciences) Aims and scope

Abstract

The properties of copper oxide CuO single crystals coated by Cu or Ag films before and after the surface treatment by YAG:Nd3+ laser radiation were studied. With an increase of energy density of laser radiation the drastic changes in the surface microstructure, elemental composition and electrical properties of the crystals under investigation were observed. The peculiarities inherent to the granular samples have not been revealed on the temperature dependence of the resistance. The modification of copper oxides properties by the influence of laser irradiation may be used to improve the characteristics of various devices based on them.
