Control of the Number of Solitons in the Fiber Laser by Resonance Injection of External Narrow-Band Radiation

Abstract

The mechanisms fundamental to the process of generation and annihilation of soliton pulses under the external injection are studied. It is shown that depending on the current power of pumping of a fiber soliton laser, injection can stimulate generation of a new soliton, thereby acting on the continuous background in the cavity, or lead to annihilation of a soliton, thereby reducing the value of the saturable amplification. The results of the performed numerical modeling are in a principal accordance with the results of experiment.
