Abstract

On the basis of a systematic analysis of known publications, the methodology is studied for determination of uniformity of abrasive powders as an important sign of their quality. The range of characteristics and properties, to which the concept of uniformity can be applied, is outlined. Additionally, the shape similarity of grain projections is proposed to add to this list. An original method for determining the uniformity of abrasive powders by using this new morphometric characteristic is described. The results of assessment of the method on various abrasive powders are given.
