Abstract

The article has investigated sorption of U(VI) by layered zinc and aluminum hydroxides containing in the interlayer space ions of carbonate or diethylenetriamine pentaaceatate. It has been found that absorption rate of U(VI) is proportional to its concentration in the solution and the content of free active centers of the sorbent. The rate constant at 20°C referred to concentrations in the solution of U(VI) and active centers of investigated sorbents constitute respectively 163 and 238 M−1 · min−1. The proposed method of studying sorption kinetics is compared with the known concept of reactions of the pseudo second order.
