Variations in Cosmic Rays before Powerful Earthquakes

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

It is found that variations in cosmic ray fluxes are observed before powerful earthquakes (magnitude M ≈ 8) at most neutron monitors of the world network located on different continents. Reliable data obtained via flicker-noise spectroscopy are recorded several days before earthquakes and can serve as the basis for creating a predictor of the first level.
