Radio-Based Study of Characteristics of Cosmic Rays with Highest Energies at Frequency of 30–35 MHz at the Yakutsk Array

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

Results are presented from studying showers with highest energies E  ≥ 1018 eV using radio antennas in the 30–35 MHz range of frequencies at the Yakutsk array. Ways of determining such basic characteristics of cosmic rays as the energy of extensive air showers, the depths of maxima Xmax, and the angles of arrival from measuring radio emissions are described. For air showers with energies E  ≥ 1019 eV, their location on the celestial map is found in Galactic coordinates, in order to search for sources of highest energy cosmic rays.
