Abstract
Measurements of φ-mesons in such small colliding systems as p + Au and He + Au are used to study the effects of cold nuclear matter, in order to separate ones caused by the formation of quark–gluon plasma from those produced by cold nuclear matter in collisions between heavy ions. The effects of cold nuclear matter are multiple parton scattering, loss of the energy of partons in the initial state, dynamic shadows, and the Cronin effect.
