Abstract
The properties of the ground state of even–even nuclei in a wide range of mass numbers are studied in an approximation of a self-consistent relativistic and nonrelativistic mean field of nuclei. Special attention is given to nuclei beyond the theoretically known neutron drip line, which form a peninsula of nuclei stable with respect to the emission of one or two neutrons in (N, Z) space at N = 184.
