Some seismicity regularities of the Caucasus

  • Published:
Seismic Instruments Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Some aspects of the seismicity the Caucasus are considered based on the earthquake catalog from 1962 to 2011, which includes data on about 40000 seismic events with magnitudes from −1.0 to 7.5. Correlation equations between the energy classes and magnitudes of the earthquakes are calculated. Interannual changes in the Gutenberg-Richter relationship and seasonal cycles of seismic energy release are revealed.
