Abstract

We have calculated the electronic and second-order nonlinear optical properties of spherical multilayer quantum dot layered as GaAs/AlGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs under external electric and magnetic fields. In numerical calculations, both the on- and off-center impurity cases are considered within the effective mass approximation. The eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions of the system are obtained, using two-dimensional finite difference approach. It is found that the ground-state binding energy and second harmonic generation susceptibility are strongly affected by the potential parameters and the electric and magnetic fields. Furthermore, the electron probability distributions are investigated to understand clearly underlying physical reasons behind the behavior of the binding energy.
