Abstract
The nonlinear optical rectification (OR) in the asymmetric GaAs/AlxGa1−xAs coupled quantum wells (CQWs) is theoretically investigated. The compact density matrix approach and the iterative method are used to calculate the OR in CQWs. The results show that the OR value obtained in this system can be enhanced by adjusting the parameters of the left-well. Moreover, the OR value also depends strongly on the electron density of the CQWs.
