Synthesis, structure, and luminescence properties of transition metal 12-crown-4-porphyrinates in a polystyrene matrix

Abstract

A series of meso-tetra(benzo-12-crown-4)-substituted nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II), palladium(II), and platinum(II) porphyrinates was synthesized. The structures of complexes were determined from the data of electronic absorption spectroscopy and MALDI TOF mass spectrometry. Analysis of the luminescence properties of metal porphyrinates in a polystyrene matrix at 25°C was performed. The quantum yields of fluorescence and phosphorescence were measured by an absolute method, and the lifetimes of fluorescence and phosphorescence were determined. On basis of the results obtained, analysis of the mechanisms of the influence of metal cations on the luminescence properties of the macrocyclic ligand in the molecules of 12-crown-4-substituted metal porphyrinates was performed.
