Abstract

Problems of the thermocatalytic purification of gas emissions with widely varying concentrations of admixtures are considered in terms of waste gases containing 1–15 g/m3 of toluene for impregnating a tape with a toluene rubber solution in the production of electrical insulation materials. The kinetic parameters of Pd-containing and oxide catalysts in the deep oxidation of toluene are determined experimentally, and mathematical modeling is used to analyze the processes occurring in the adiabatic reactor. The behavior of the process is studied both at a controlled diluting air flow rate and fixed inlet temperature and at a controlled temperature and a fixed diluting air flow rate. Features of the process in one- and two-bed reactor loading are considered, and the problems and limitations of using Pd-containing catalyst in the first bed of two-bed reactor loading are discussed. Technological approaches to the catalytic emissions control of the above composition are proposed.
