A Regular Difference Grid and Characteristics Method

Mathematical Models and Computer Simulations Aims and scope

Abstract

An explicit characteristics method used to calculate the values of gas-dynamic parameters (GDP) of one-dimensional unsteady flows is considered. An algorithm for solving gas-dynamic equations written along characteristic directions is formulated for use on a regular grid. An example of calculating the problem for a cylindrical pipe is performed. It is shown that with a time integration step of 0.0002 s, the calculation accuracy by the explicit method is close to the results obtained by the implicit method.
