Abstract

Novel green luminophores K2La(1–x)Tbx(PO3)5 (x = 0.5, 1, 5 and 10%) activated with trivalent rare-earth (Tb3+) ions were synthesized via the flux method. The obtained compounds are characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and found to be crystallized in the monoclinic phase wherein its space group is Cc. The Fourier-transform infrared spectrum, photoluminescence spectra, and decay curves are investigated. The CIE chromaticity coordinates have been highlighted. The emission color of K2La1–xTbx(PO3)5 can be tuned from blue to green by changing the terbium concentration. The most emission intensity was 5D47F5 transition corresponding to the green band and the decay time associated was around 1 ms, suggesting potential applications in the fields of phosphor materials.
