Abstract

The formation of micron-size water droplets in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) in a high-pressure cell with sapphire windows is studied experimentally using in situ laser diffractometry. According to the analysis of diffraction patterns of laser radiation scattered on water droplets in SC-CO2 and optical microscopy data at 10.0 MPa and 40°C, the mean diameter of water droplets is 55 ± 3 μm.
