Abstract
When using general-purpose electronics (in particular, CAEN digitizers) in data acquisition systems from two-dimensional position-sensitive neutron detectors with a delay line, the task of constructing neutron events from raw data must be performed at the software level. Digitizers provide raw data in list mode, often referred to as event-based acquisition mode. A tricky algorithm for constructing neutron events can take too long, which disallows near real-time visualization of measurements. The article presents a way to speed up the operation of algorithms for calculating neutron spectra from raw experimental data measured in the list mode. The developed software for a sufficiently fast conversion of the measured data into formats suited for prompt calculation and visualization the requested positional and time-of-flight spectra of neutrons is described. As a result, it became possible to visualize neutron spectra in near real-time.
