Abstract
Tooling materials made of polycrystalline compacts synthesized from the detonation synthesis of diamond nanopowders are proposed. After crushing and classifying the compacts, a polycrystalline grain is obtained with a grain size yield of +250 µm of more than 40%. The strength of the grains with grain sizes ranging from 315 μm to 2.5 mm corresponds to the grades of diamond powders ARC4–ARS3. Round cutting inserts of 9.525 × 3.18 and 12.7 × 4.76 mm are made by the grinding method. The spray nozzles are made by laser cutting.
