Abstract

The new original data on the mineralogy of the Sergevanskii section of the Revdinskaya placer of the Lovozero placer area are reported in the paper. Glacial and tectonic processes accompanied by the destruction and redeposition of the primary rocks of the Lovozero Massif resulted in the formation of close rare-metal placers along the periphery. An attempt to characterize the heavy-fraction minerals of the Sergevanskii section of the Revdinskaya placer was made for the first time. It was found that, in addition to loparite, the main placer-forming mineral, there are several other mineral carriers of rare metals in the placer, which can be used to expand the raw-material base of the Lovozero mining and refining facility. The main minerals carrying rare and rare-earth elements were identified for the placer; their quantitative assessment was carried out, and some mineralogical and chemical patterns were characterized. This allowed us to fix their belonging to different types of rocks composing the Lovozero Massif.
