N-Heterocyclic Carbenes: XII. Sterically Congested Diterpene Imidazolium and Benzimidazolium Salts

Abstract

Diterpene derivatives of imidazole and benzimidazole were synthesized by the phase-transfer alkylation of imidazole and benzimidazole with a sterically congested diterpene bromoketone. The corresponding imidazolium and benimidazolium salts were also prepared.
