Abstract
Potentiostatic method was used to study the corrosion-electrochemical properties in a 3% NaCl electrolyte of an AK1 alloy modified with lanthanum and scandium. It was found that the lanthanum and scandium additives positively affect the corrosion resistance of the AK1 alloy in the NaCl electrolyte. For example, the additives reduce the anodic corrosion rate of the alloy by 3.6 × 10–4 to 0.97 × 10–4 g m–2 h–1. Upon alloying of the alloy, the pitting and corrosion potentials are shifted into the positive region, which indicates that alloys containing lanthanum and scandium become more pitting corrosion resistant.
